The prestigious 22nd Annual Riverside-Brookfield Summer Shootout kicks off this weekend running from Friday June 20th thru Sunday June 22nd. This is a marque event every summer kicking off the June High School Live period. Let’s take a look at some of the top games and prospects we will be taking a look at on Friday.

Day 2 of the New Years Extravaganza did all it could to bring exciting action as Day one and it did not disappoint with of the best teams and players leaving it all on the floor Sunday.

When Sides Collide: Preview

High school basketball fans are in for a treat this January 25th as Benet Academy hosts the “When Sides Collide” event. With a lineup of thrilling matchups, this showcase will bring together some of the most talented teams in the state. From early afternoon tip-offs to prime-time showdowns, each game promises intense competition and an electric atmosphere. Here’s a preview of the four games on the schedule:

Fenwick: MLK Day Classic Standouts

Great day of basketball in recognizing one of the greats who stood for so much. It was a three game slate with programs from all over the state which provided some exciting matchups and unbelievable endings all day. 

Chicago Showcase – Xposure Runs: Standouts

An unbelievable venue with some amazing talent being able to showcase their skills on full display with the Chicago skyline as the backdrop. We knew most of the names going into this incredible event but I left with so many more names who with their play could be in-play for a major season this year. Let’s take a look at some of the standouts from this amazing event.

2025 – Brent Taylor (HF)

6’3 Athletic elite scoring combo guard who had it working on all three levels throughout the event. Earned the Showcase MVP with his spectacular play in the open floor finishing above the rim along with his excellent shooting from behind the three point line.

2025 – Zion Gross (Joliet West)

6’5 Guard with the size and skillset to dominate game in many different areas. Handles the basketball excellent with his size he gets anywhere on the floor able to finish over smaller defenders.

2025 – Yusuf Saleh (Argo)

6’1 guard who took a lot of pride on both ends of the floor but stood out with his defensive instincts and approach. Scored the basketball at a high efficient rate all day with a solid handle able to beat defenders off the bounce.

2025 – Donte Montgomery (Oaklawn)

6’2 guard with great length for the position. Makes shot after shot then decided to mix it up showing the ability to get into the paint finishing either hand.

2025 – Keshaun Vaval (Evergreen Park)

6’1 Guard has a deep bag in his arsenal. Solid handle able to get to his spots anywhere on the floor along with excellent vision finding teammates all game.

2025 – Khamai Orange (Delaware)

6’2 two-way guard with an excellent feel for scoring the basketball. Excellent three-level scorer out of Philadelphia put on a complete show with his offensive game getting anywhere he wanted finishing in the paint or making threes.

2025 – Jacob Rice (St. Laurence)

6’4 Guard capable of playing either guard spot effectively. Great size and excellent shooting ability makes him a tough cover as he was able to use his shooting ability to get to the rim and finish.

2025 – Tristian Saunders (Joliet West)

6’3 Guard Earned the Sharpshooter award as he looked very comfortable shooting the basketball from each an ever spot on the floor. Able to play off the catch an shoot or creating his own shots off the bounce he had it all working during the showcase.

2025 – Caleb Burgins (Proviso West)

6’2 Combo tough an physical on both ends of the floor. Gets the job done type of guard who doesn’t back down from a challenge which stands out in environments like this.

2025 – Dustyn Collins (Centralia)

6’6 Guard probably had the most eye opening performance of the day. His is a complete highlight reel in the open floor finishing high above the rim on some of the best dunks all day. He is more than a slasher as he has a solid handle able to get to his dribble pull-up game along with being a tough rebounder.

2025 – Kobe Walker (NCHS) (Central Michigan Commit)

6’9 Big already committed to Central Michigan still came out to show his improving offensive game making a couple three’s along with his excellent rim protection ability.

2025 – Jahkil Jackson (Curie)

6’3 Guard overall game has improved in each area. Was excellent in transition with the basketball in his hands showcasing a handle able to create shots from all three levels. Did a good job at finishing in the paint over size.

2025 – AJ Morgan (Vernon Hills)

6’5 man child. Is a intimidating force on both ends of the floor making his presence seen and felt all game. Finishes everything above the rim but also does a great job using his athletic ability to be a high level rebounder. Showed off his shooting ability knocking down shots from outside the paint.
