What is Stack Funding and Replace Funding in Scholarships

Stack Funding vs. Replace Funding

It’s important to know how a school will stack or replace funding.  A school is going to do one or the other, and it could help in your decision making on which school to attend.

Let’s say you know your financial status based on your award letter, and then you receive additional funding from an athletic scholarship, work study, or any other source of funding.

If a school stacks money, they will add awards on top of what you have already been awarded.  If a school does not stack funding and does replace funding, the additional monies you have been awarded will be added in place of other funds already offered by the school in your initial financial award letter.
