Tulsa Showcase: Friday Game Recaps

RecruitLook Hoops took the Crossover Culture Circuit down to Tulsa, Oklahoma this weekend. Here’s a recap of the opening night of games.

Team Griffin Select 16U 56, Gym Time Hoops 16U 32

Team Griffin got an early 9-1 lead and kept it up to complete a wire-to-wire win. They kept the defensive pressure on the whole game, which forced a lot of turnovers that turned into extra possessions. Isaac Wootton torched the net with his great catch and shoot ability, while Hayden Smith put in work down low with good post moves, rim protection, rebounding, and finishing.

Southeast Elite 17U 56, Spartans Blue 17U 54

This game was all tied up 23-23 at half after a buzzer beating pull up 3 by Damian Bohlman. Southeast Elite got hot from deep to start 2nd half and got up by as many as 13, but the Spartans came back and took the lead on a Daijon McDaniel layup, but Southeast Elite responded with an and-1 layup of their own with 17 seconds left, and then got a stop on defense to seal the win.

Team RWA 17U 60, H&H Elite 17U 50

This game was back and forth the whole time, as neither team could pull away. Kam’Ryn Thomas showed off his defensive presence with 3 blocks, including 2 in about 10 seconds in the 1st half. Wes Hunt had 10 of RWA’s 22 1st half points, while cleaning up the glass really well. He finished with 26 points on 12/17 shooting and a ton of rebounds. RWA stretched their lead to 12 in the 2nd half and finished the game with a double-digit win.
