Tucker DeVries is our number 1 overall ranked player in the state of Iowa for the 2021 class. He has several D1 offers and we expect many more to jump on board — in fact, we think other schools would already have offered if it weren’t for his dad being the head coach at Drake University. Drake Univeristy and Creighton are heavy favorites for Tucker, but it just takes one High Major to offer and the floodgates should open.
We spoke with Coach DeVries earlier this year about Tucker. He made it clear that he has always supported and given Tucker the go-ahead to explore any option that Tucker wanted. Coach DeVries thought it would be a great thing for him to go out and take visits and take in the entire recruiting process.
Now that schools from the SEC and Big 10 are showing interest… will some offers follow? So far Mizzou and Iowa have reached out to Tucker, and where there is smoke…there is fire. Expect more schools to get in the mix.
Here is what we like about Tucker…
A 6’7 legitimate point forward at the High School level. The Waukee star averaged 21.4 PPG, 4.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, 55.8 FG%, & 48.1 3PT%. He has in the gym “range” and isn’t afraid to pull it from anywhere. His patent move is a between-the-legs hesitation dribble which puts him in position to blow by you if you press him or take the three if you sag off. If he’s feeling it, most defenders shorter than 6’3 or 6’4 have no chance to contest. The reason he is widely renowned as Iowa’s #1 2021 prospect is because he can do so much more than shoot. Tucker notched a triple-double in 4A play this season. He can make passes with his left (weak) hand that most cannot make with their strong hand. His basketball IQ is off the charts. There are a lot of little things he does on the court that impact the game that don’t show up in boxscore.
