High School Team: Lee’s Summit High School
Strengths: LaRue is only going to be a sophomore next year but has the starting job at PG for Lee’s Summit High School. LaRue has that deceptive speed to his game – he isn’t looking to make a highlight reel off his dribbling. He hits the defender with one move and a burst to get to where he needs to go – there isn’t a lot of wasted dribbling. LaRue is a smart point guard that sees the court well and makes passes that put his teammates in good scoring opportunities. He shows flashes of scoring with his ability to finish in traffic at the rim or knock down the 3-point shot. Possibly his biggest strength is his composure. He doesn’t get frazzled under pressure.
Improvement Opportunity: LaRue is a point guard that you put on the court and he controls the game but we would like to see him be more vocal towards his teammates. It will come with time as he matures and learns more of the offensive. He also needs to hit the weight room to be able to handle upperclassman that will try to bully their way through him or post him up. Would also like to see a little more from him in the mid-range.
Projection: No offers right now, but he has the potential to play LM/MM D1.
