Recruitment update with 2022 Trey Lewis

Trey Lewis is getting strong interest from several division one schools including a couple from the Big 12. The 2022 point guard from Johnston High School just finished his sophomore season where he finished 2nd on the team in scoring with 11ppg and shot almost 50% from three point range (47%).

We first saw Trey in the RecruitLook Hoops League in 2019. After watching him several times, we extended an invite to attend our prestigious Larry Hughes Elite Camp. Trey is only listed at 5’9, small for division one hoops, but his game is much bigger than his actual size. He’s been playing up 1 or 2 age divisions on the AAU scene his entire life, so he’s used to proving he fits in. And everywhere he goes, success seems to follow.

Trey has a calm, cool, and collected approach to his game. Coaches like when their point guard acts the same whether it’s a 20 point lead or a 1-point game with under a minute to play. Trey has been in those moments…against much bigger and older players. He’s not afraid of the moment and definitely not afraid to take the big shot.

Schools like California, Belmont, UC Irvine, Miami-Ohio, Nebraska Omaha have been showing strong interest, while Iowa State and Kansas have recently reached out to Trey’s AAU coach, Burchette Greer of Pure Prep.

“Trey is planning on Zoom calls June 15th with Belmont and UC Irvine. Kansas and Iowa State have checked in on him recently to keep tabs. They saw him play this past summer on the RecruitLook Hoops League when they were recruiting X (Xavier Foster),” says Burchette Greer.
