RecruitLook’s Chatfield Gets Selected in MLB Draft
Padres select Chatfield
RecruitLook’s Chris Chatfield, 2015 CF from Spoto HS in Riverview, FL, was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 23rd round of this year’s MLB Draft. The University of South Florida signee was one of the premier HS players in the Tampa Bay area over the last 4 seasons, hitting .441 w/ 25 RBIs, 12 SBs, and 10 extra base hits this past season.
Chatfield first started working with RecruitLook when he had a skills video filmed by us back in the summer of 2012. He’s always had a D1 caliber frame, as he’s now 6’4″ 200 lbs…but needed some assistance in navigating the recruiting process. The former coaching staff at USF worked closely with RecruitLook to abide by the rules of the recruiting calendar on when they could and couldn’t reach out to Chatfield. He committed during an unofficial visit in the summer of 2013.
Once the current staff came in June of 2014, they had to re-recruit him and Chatfield held his commitment…ultimately signing with USF during the early signing period in Nov 2014.
Chatfield told RecruitLook via text that he plans to bypass signing with the Padres and still attend USF this fall to pursue his degree.
