Recapping Friday action at the Omaha Showcase

Friday night was the first night of the RecruitLook Hoops Omaha Showcase. Here is a recap of a few games…

OSA 16U 64 Jimmer Elite 16U 62

Josh Dix scored 17 points along with 7 assists and 4 steals to lead OSA to the opening game win. PJ Davis scored 16 points for the Crusaders, and Reggie Thomas hit a couple big threes down the stretch and locked up on defense late to help boost OSA to a win. For Jimmer Elite, 4 of their 6 available players scored in double figures, led by Keba Kieta with 16 points on 7/10 shooting and 7 rebounds.

Jimmer Elite 17U 73 Team Factory 17U UA Rise 71 2OT

Factory was short-handed, as Chucky Hepburn and Frankie Fidler were both inactive. Jimmer Elite snuck in for the win. Fousseyni Traore was great for Jimmer Elite. He scored 30 points (including the game-winning bucket in sudden death), grabbed 11 rebounds, and had 4 steals. Curtis Ogba Jr. (Omaha North, NE) had 12 points and 6 assists for Factory.

Marcus Denmon Elite 17U UA Rise 86 Salt Lake City Rebels Red 66

This game was a close game in the first half, but Marcus Denmon Elite pulled away with a good 2nd half. Najee Williams had 4 thunderous dunks for Marcus Denmon Elite, as he dropped 20 points to lead them. Cameron Matthews started off the game 7/7, including 5/5 from deep. He finished with 19 pts and 5/6 from deep. 

Wisconsin Shooting 65 Stars Illinois Magic 58

Jeramiah Burke scored 20 for the Wisconsin Shooting Stars including a couple big dunks for them. Brandon Leach excels at getting past defenders with quick handles and good speed for the Shooting Stars. Ismail Habib scored 25 for the Illinois Magic, and they made a late run cutting it down to a 4 point game with 20 seconds left after it being a 10 point game with a minute left.

Y&R 79 Jimmer Elite 17U 77 OT

Julius Rollins (27) and John Poulakidas (22) combined for 49 points for Young and Reckless, and Poulakidas was the hero as his layup with 1.9 left in overtime gave Young and Reckless the 79-77 win. Fousseyni Traore was great again for Jimmer Elite 17U, he scored 32 points and was 12/13 from the free throw line. Traore averaged 31 points and 12.5 rebounds in his first 2 games of the showcase.

Iowa Barnstormers Gold 17U 69 Salt Lake City Rebels Red 66

Landon Wolf scored 15 of his 20 in the first 12 minutes of the game, hitting 4 early 3s, and the play of the night with a massive poster dunk plus a foul. He started off strong and ended the game strong, as he was fouled on a 3 point attempt at the buzzer in a tie game, and he converted the free throw to win the game. Jaden Brownell led the Rebels in scoring for the 2nd straight game, scoring 17 for the 2nd game in a row. Carter Welling also scored 14 for the 2nd game in a row for Salt Lake.
