Quick Update With 2021 Guard Tamar Bates

SHAWNEE, KANSAS— The live period last weekend changed the lives for a multitude of basketball players around the nation, one of those happened to be Tamar Bates. Bates is a 2021 guard from Piper, Kansas who runs with KC RUN GMC on the Under Armour Association circuit. Bates had an exceptional live period with his KC Run GMC team, picking up his first offer in the process from Missouri State. “I just kind of blew up from there and started picking up more offers.”

Bates hasn’t let the newfound notoriety get in the way of improving his game and take it to the next level as he’s already improving multiple facets of his game. “Really just shooting off the dribble, mid-range, and spot up threes,” Bates said.

“Slashing and getting to the basket, that’s what I’m best at.”

“I’m going to play with effort every game, no matter what. Just keep it consistent,” Bates said. Bates plays with a passion and intensity every game no matter the event that’s going on, which is what has caught the attention of college coaches and the reason for the flooding of interest and offers. “I always play hard and produce every game.”

“Missouri State was the first school to take a chance on me and then every other school that’s recruiting me did the same.”

Bates has now picked up offers from Wichita State, Saint Louis University, and Abilene Christian to go along with his Missouri State offer. The talented 2021 guard is certainly going to have all the local schools vying for his services, with several Big 12 and Big 10 schools already having reached out to express their interest.

Although Wichita State is the first home state school to offer, that hasn’t changed anything for Bates. “I’m just trying to keep all of my offers open, I don’t really have any favorites right now,” Bates said.

“They’re all just telling me that I’m a huge priority for them,” Bates said regarding their message to him.

“They see me as someone that can come in and eventually lead them to a Final Four.”
