Player Focus: Patrick Readye

Patrick Readye, a 6’7 forward who averaged 10 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks as a junior for Althoff Catholic, is looking to improve his stock this summer for SW IL Jets. Readye’s skill set will be on display at a number of events across the country, including RL Hoops tournament in Omaha, NE next week.

Prior to next week’s tip-off, we got the chance to chat with Readye about his upcoming season.  

RLH: What are you looking forward to the most for this spring/summer basketball season?

PR: Becoming a better player on and off the court, also building bonds with my teammates and facing top competition

RLH: Do you have anything you want to work on this spring/summer in preparation for your last year of high school basketball?

PR: Mainly focusing on my body and getting in better shape.

RLH: What is the biggest difference between high school and AAU basketball?

PR: Playing high competition back to back and adapting to changes

RLH: Who is your favorite player in the NBA right now? Why?

PR: Lebron, he is the greatest at everything he does.

RLH: What schools have been showing interest in you so far?

PR: So far Quincy, Mizzou, Rose-Hulman, and Winona State

RLH: How much has your game changed from this time last year? How so?

PR: It’s changed A lot, I’m quicker my shot is better and i’m defending better.

RLH: Who was the toughest player you face last year?

PR: Jalen Johnson

RLH: Who do you think is going to win the NCCA tournament this year?

PR: Duke

RLH: What is the most important lesson you have learned playing for your coaches at SW IL Jets?

PR: Family is everything and to work hard at everything.
