One on One with 2020 F Jalen Myers

Few players have experienced the last few weeks like 2020 Forward Jalen Myers out of Alabama has. The Bob Jones HS & Team Carroll Premier forward has seen his recruitment take off over the last few weeks and it all started at the NBA Top 100 Camp, where Myers took his game to the next level. Since then, Myers has competed in Birmingham during the Adidas Gauntlet, and most recently in Kansas City at the Sunflower Showcase.

Myers attributes some of his rise to his teammates, just for putting him in the spots he needs to, to shine. “They give me more exposure, I learn to play with better players, and get my skills right.” Myers explained.

Myers was no less than phenomenal at the Sunflower Showcase last weekend, putting all of his skills on display. Though they were short handed and didn’t have their star point guard to injury, that didn’t stop them from competing hard in every game.

Myers’ best game came against the KC Run GMC squad who play on the Under Armour circuit. It was a back and forth game throughout, but Myers stepped up in crunch time and displayed his clutch gene. With the game tied, it was Myers whose number was called to end the game and he did just that as he operated at the top of the key and got enough separation to bury the jumper for the win at the buzzer.

“Man, we didn’t want to go to overtime against them.” Myers said. “My dad told me to just stay south, go one on one, and I just made the play.”

While they ultimately fell short of their goal last weekend, Myers was easily one of the best prospects in the building. A true stretch four at the next level, Myers will be able to thrive in today’s game with his skillset.

Already an impressive prospect, Myers thinks there’s something he can add to his game that can really take it to the next level. That’s driving to the rim and finishing through contact.

That hasn’t stopped college coaches from licking their chops, hoping to add him to their next great class though. He’s picked up a handful of offers over the last two weeks that’s included Troy, Auburn, & San Diego State. While they haven’t offered yet, Temple, Iowa State, Georgetown, and Florida State have now inquired about the skilled forward according to Team Carroll Premier.

Iowa State, Florida State, and Georgetown are all interested in Myers due to his unique skill set that he can display, all while being able to guard multiple positions on the floor. “Myers is a hard worker day in and day out and he is getting better every day,” Team Carroll Premier’s Coach added.

Regarding the message that Auburn and San Diego State has been giving Jalen, it’s simple. “I play my tail off and they like my game,” Myers explained. “I showed out for Coach Pearl at the Elite 100 camp and killed it.”

Right now there’s not a certain school Myers hopes reaches out, he just has one simple message for everyone.

“It doesn’t matter, I’m going to shine.”
