Keep working hard. Be patient. You’ll create your own luck. These are all cliches sometimes overused and tiresome for student-athletes to hear over and over again. Well, for Mike Branche, Jr…all of them held true in his quest to play for a premier college baseball program.
Branche is currently a 3B for Andrew College, JUCO in Georgia, and he recently verbally committed to one of the top DII programs in the country, the University of West Florida. He graduated from Haines City HS (FL) in 2014 and had signed with Daytona State College (FL). After being cut from the team in the fall, he then tried to walk on at Palm Beach State College (FL)…but didn’t make the spring roster for 2016.
Former Andrew College Asst Coach Brock Moss had connected with Recruit Look Florida on Twitter about some other prospects in 2015. Both attended a showcase event in Tampa in Dec 2015 and was introduced to Mike Branche then. A subsequent visit was set up, then an offer, which eventually led to Branche hitting .309 w/ 5 HR & 28 RBI for Andrew College in the 2016 season.
During a fall 2016 event at UWF, Branche showed his power as he homered in front of the Argos staff leading to this week’s verbal commitment. He will officially sign with the UWF program during the early signing period from Nov 9-16th.
“Mike really worked hard since getting here. I’m glad we were able to get him. I’m so happy for him. Social media is changing the recruiting world and it’s how we connected with Recruit Look.” said Andrew College Head Coach Blake Williams.
This 2017 JUCO transfer proves that if you keep working hard, use all of your available resources, consider all options, and then prove yourself on the field…then you can create your own luck sometimes in the recruiting process.
