The Ohio State University, Lima, also referred to as Ohio State Lima is a regional campus of the The Ohio State University located in Lima, Ohio. Its 565-acre (2.29 km2) campus is located in Lima, 80 miles (130 km) south of Toledo, Ohio. It offers over 140 courses and 12 bachelor degree programs in science and liberal Arts. Ten of twelve programs are four-year programs at Lima. Two of them are baccalaureate completion programs. In addition to regional accreditation, Ohio State Lima has baccalaureate program accreditation with NCATE. Students can start at Lima and finish their degrees at The Ohio State University, Columbus with one of Ohio State�s 170+ majors. The Ohio State University at Lima offers over 20 student clubs and organizations. There are also 12 intramural and club athletic teams. The campus has been without a full-time dean for nearly a year, unprecedented in its history. The Lima Campus Library has 76,000 volumes and 200+ journal subscriptions. Library databases also provide access to thousands of online journals.The University shares the campus with James A. Rhodes State College.
College Specialty
The Fine Art program at OSU, Lima is a new, strong and growing department. At OSU Lima we do not offer a major in Fine Art. We offer a solid, practical foundation in: beginning drawing, intermediate drawing, beginning figure drawing, two dimensional design and beginning painting. With new courses being offered yearly it may soon be possible to work toward an art minor. Fine Art majors may finish their BFA degree in Columbus, at The Ohio State Universities Department of Art or transfer to other institutions. It is very possible after one year of study at OSU, Lima to build a portfolio that is ready for submission to any art school, college or university in the country. In addition to building a portfolio for intended art majors, the program also serves as an interdisciplinary area for students from all departments interested in an introduction to art via basic visual studies. Class trips to galleries and museums in Toledo, Columbus and Chicago round out the visual art experience at OSU, Lima. The programs courses serve as an introduction to visual expression aimed at revealing the fundamental concepts underlying all the visual arts. In these classes the students explore seeing and invention, develop skills and work with the vocabulary and methodology of visual thinking.
