3-Sport Star from South Sumter HS Signs with Cameron University

Recruit Look’s Reace Kinley, a 3-sport athlete from South Sumter HS, signed today to play basketball for Cameron University…a D2 program in Oklahoma.  He had offers and interest from other college coaches for both football and as a high jumper, but ultimately stayed with his first love as a shooting guard on the basketball court.  He avg 17 ppg, 6 rpg this season.

“We’re apart of a big family here at South Sumter HS.  I loved the small town atmosphere and fan support for all of the sports.   This is known as a football powerhouse and I’m proud to be only the 3rd basketball from here to sign with a college program.”  said Kinley.   He also added: “All of the college coaches who recruited me said they liked that I was a multi-sport athlete, as it helped with my overall athleticism and especially my aggressiveness on the basketball court.”

Kinley, who is from a coaching family, has aspirations of his own one day to also get into coaching.  Being the QB on the #1 ranked football team in Class 5A for most of the season has helped him become a great leader.

South Sumter HS Head Basketball Coach A.J. Bryant said, “Reace is a great kid who was an extension of a coach on the floor.  He always stroked the ball well, but as a 4-year varsity player he was able to develop into a better ball handler due to his work ethic.  I’m happy to see him go to a college program.   I believe him being a multi-sport athlete absolutely helped him get recruited, as all of the coaches who contacted me were thrilled to hear that he also played football and was a high jumper…who also qualified for the state championship meet.”

Cameron University Asst Basketball Coach Luke Stuckey said: “We recruited him because we think he has the potential to develop and mature into a great player in our program.  We think he is a high character person who has winning attributes and has the potential to be a leader.  He’s done a great job in the classroom and will continue that at Cameron.”
