The current NCAA Division I Men’s Golf recruiting calendar runs August 1st, 2019 through July 31st, 2020.
August 1 through November 27, 2019 [except for (1) below] — Contact Period
(1) November 11-14, 2019 — Dead Period
November 28 through December 1, 2019 — Dead Period
December 2-22, 2019 [except for (1) and (2) below] — Quiet Period
(1) A coach may evaluate at the two events (showcase and combine) that are traditionally held in conjunction with the Golf Coaches Association of America National Convention. — Evaluation Period
(2) December 9-12 (12:01 a.m.): The first official day of the Golf Coaches Association of America Convention to 12:01 a.m. on the day after the adjournment of the convention. — Dead Period
December 23, 2019, through January 1, 2020 — Dead Period
January 2 through July 31, 2020 — Contact Period

NCAA Division 1 Men’s & Women’s Golf Recruiting Rules
It is important for potential prospects to know the the NCAA Division 1 Golf Recruiting Rules. Athletes and coaches have certain restrictions when it comes to college golf recruiting. Ensure your eligibility by following the NCAA recruiting rules.
As a Sophomore in high school
Recruiting Tactic | As a Sophomore |
Recruiting Material | You may receive brochures for camps and questionnaires. |
Telephone Calls | You can call the coach at your own expense. Coach cannot call you. |
Off-Campus Contact | Not Permitted |
Official Visits | Not Permitted |
Unofficial Visits | Unlimited if scheduled without the assistance of the coaching staff & not coordinated to meet with the coaching staff on campus. Not Permitted – athletic departments cannot participate in a prospect’s unofficial visit until September 1st of prospect’s junior year. |
As a Junior in High School
Recruiting Tactic | As a Junior |
Recruiting Material | You can begin to receive recruiting material and information from the coach on June 15th following your Sophomore year. |
Telephone Calls | You can call the coach at your own expense. Coach can call you starting June 15th following your Sophomore year. |
Electronic Correspondence (i.e. texts, IM, email.) | All forms of electronic correspondence are allowed starting June 15th following your Sophomore year. Correspondence must be private between athlete & coach. |
Off-Campus Contact | Allowed August 1st. |
Official Visits | Allowed beginning 8/1 of Junior Year. Prospects are allowed one visit per college and a maximum of 5 visits to D1 schools, and unlimited for D2, D3 and NAIA schools. |

- College coaches can evaluate and/or contact you no more than 7 times during your senior year.
- During your senior year a college coach cannot contact you more than 3 times.

Other important information
- Division 2 does not have any rules on the number of evaluations per student athletes.
- College coaches cannot contact you on competition or practice days until your event is finished, and you are dismissed by the proper authority (like your high school coach or athletic director).
- During a contact period college coaches can make only one visit per week to your high school.
