You probably read this forum title and thought I was crazy.  Here me out first before you think I'm an idiot.

I am only considering this for the 2009-10 NBA season...not career.

Durant has taken an Oklahoma City Thunder team that was miserable last year and now has them in the middle of a playoff race.  On 2-23-10 Durant has the Thunder in 6th place in the Western Conference, and just a game away from being in 4th place.  The Thunder won 23 games last year...that's it!  They already have 33 wins and are three games behind Denver for the division lead.  Can you name another OKC Thunder player?  Take a look at this roster and you'll see why Durant should be the MVP in 2010.

Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Thabo Sefolosha, Nenad Kristic, Nick Collison, Eric Maynor, Serge Ibaka.

Durant has nothing to work with there.  Westbrook has come on this year and Green is a solid player, but really, if it weren't for Durant this team would be the New Jersey Nets of the Midwest.

Now take a look at Lebron and Kobe's teammates and try to tell me they are better than Durant.

Lebron's mates : Shaq, Mo Williams, Antwan Jamison, Anderson Varejao, Delonte West, JJ Hickson.

Not overly impressive but still better than the Thunder.

Now Kobe's mates :  Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Ron Artest, Derek Fisher, Jordan Farmar.

Besides Kobe, this team has 4 All-Stars.  Kobe just missed 5 games and they still went 4-1.  Let me hear your argument on this one.

I agree with you on the Kobe but not Lebron.  Durant is getting so much love in OKC...it's great!  However, Lebron is the best basketball player on the planet...hands down.  I think right now that Lebron is ahead of where Jordan was (basketball skill wise).  Jordan separated himself from the elites when he proved he had the mental game to go along with the physical game.  It's one thing to be a great basketball player, but its another when you're a proven winner.

1. Lebron

2. Durant

3. Kobe

4. Wade

5. Dirk
