Brandon Jennings might have started something the NCAA is dreading. Players skipping college to get paid to play overseas. Jennings backed out of his scholarship at the University of Arizona to sign a contract to play ball in Europe. Jennings was eligble for the draft this summer, and was one of the top picks. The rule the NCAA has in place is that a player has to be 19 years old and a year removed from his high school graduation.
Jeremy Tyler from San Diego High School is leaving HIGH SCHOOL after his junior year to play overseas. He will play two years on a contract, then return back to the U.S. where he is projected to be the #1 pick in the NBA. David Stern has to be thinking, what next? Middle schoolers enrolling in European high school's to play ball and get paid?
This will be interesting to see how things shake out for Tyler. If things go as planned you might see this as a new trend.
Does anyone have a thought about this?
