The NL central is looking like it will come down to the last week of the season yet again.  I think the 3 front runners are the Brewers, Cards, and Cubs.  It scares me that the Cubs have played like garbage but are still in this thing.  I don't think the Cards have the talent to stay in the hunt all season; therefore, it is going to come down to the Brewers and the Cubs.

If the brew crew can add a quality starting pitcher, then they should win this division.  They have the bats to hang with any offense out there.  It should be interesting come September.

I think a lot will depend on what happens these next couple of weeks.  Usually the NL Central teams are not big players when it comes to making moves before the trade deadline.  Besides CC Sabitha last year going to the Brewers, the Central teams usually add role players and not franchise players.  With that said my predicition will be based on teams current rosters.  I think the Brewers will win this division.  They have an offense that is as good as any in this division.  Plus they have solid starting pitching with an All-Star closer to finish things off.  Their one weak spot in my opinion is their middle relievers.  They seem to blow leads a lot.

I like the Cards and Cubbies but not enough to win a division.  LaRussa knows how to get a lot out of very little, and he is doing it again this year.  If you take Pujols out of that lineup they are a .500 team.  The bionic man won't be coming out so expect the Cards to be in the hunt all year.

The Cubbies just can't seem to put anything together.  Teams have figured out Soriano can't lay off the slider down and away.  Rich Harden is getting pegged every trip to the mound.  Carlos Marmol who was supposed to be the next big time closer can't even survive as the setup man.  Derek Lee is starting to feel his age.  Geovany Soto is having a sophomore slump similar to any Kansas City Royal ROY.  Just too many things going wrong...oh yeah, and they have Milton Bradley.

If the Cubs can get healthy they have it.  Otherwise look for the Brewers to take it down.
