Blog Entry: You are probably like a lot of the parents that we talk with on a regular basis.  When should I create my son's/daughter's college recruiting video?  That is a good question, along with, how should I create a good highlight tape ?   We recommend gathering video as early as your sophomore year.  If you are a freshman that plays up, or a freshman that plays club ball then that would be a good time too.  College scouts aren't necessarly going to look at your freshman and sophomore year game film and think they have found their next recruit.  However, it is a great way to at least get something in front of the college coaches so they know who you are.  That way when it comes time to really evaluate your playing ability your junior and senior season, the coaches have now been able to watch you progress over the past couple of years.   If you haven't been able to get game film or a highlight tape made during your first couple of years in high school then don't sweat it.  Scouts are really looking to evaluate you as junior in high school.  This is the most crucial time for a high school athlete to get his film together.  Majority of college coaches are going to gather info on recruits when they are juniors, and that becomes their target list of athletes. If you wait until your senior season to start getting film together then you put yourself in a huge hole, and sometimes it is impossible to dig yourself out.  There are strategies that our Recruiting Coaches can assist you with if you are a senior trying to get your name out there, but we do not recommend to any athlete that wants to play college athletics to wait beyond his/her junior year to get film together. An athlete that is willing to go above and beyond the competition will also put together film of his/her workouts, combines, practice routines, and club competition.
