Blog Entry: Athletes all across the country struggle trying to get noticed by college coaches.  There are millions of athletes that college scouts have to look at, so there is a good chance that unless an athlete is proactively marketing their skills that they could get passed over. At RecruitLook.com, our 'Recruiting Coaches' help athletes and their parents better understand how to tackle the college recruiting process.  One thing we assist you with is how to contact college coaches.  An introductory email is always the best way to make the first contact.  College coaches have a busy schedule so picking up a phone and calling their office usually doesn't work right off the bat.  It is good to build a good rapport with the coach before you start calling him/her. It can be difficult for a high school athlete to work up the courage to cold-call a college coach.  That is why our MVP members get special treatment on how to go about calling a coach.  We'll work with them on what to say, and how to keep the conversation going smoothly.  There is also rules that a college coach must follow when contacting potential recruits, and again our Recruiting Coaches help break down that information. Since calling a college coach can be stressful we posted a few questions that athletes can have ready to ask. How did the team do last year? What’s the outlook for this upcoming season? Are you trying for a big recruiting class? Is my position being heavily recruited? How many players are ahead of me at my position? Is there a chance I can come in and compete for a starting job? What is the competition like?    (if you don’t know) How do we prepare for the upcoming season?    Strength and Conditioning?    Practice Schedule? What is your coaching style like? Do athletes live in a certain dorm or apartment? Are the facilities close to our living environment? Do athletes get any special meal plans? Are the practice facilities open to me whenever I want? Do you offer my desired major? Does your program have a successful graduation rate? Do athletes get tutors since we will be traveling?
